A place to share my thoughts by Joreel Siegel

Holiday blogging

Our last holiday was a big trip, one of the biggest we've ever done. It had its own blog and through it everyone could enjoy reading about our big adventure down under. This trip is not as big, and certainly not as far, but I thought I'd blog about it anyway. Just in case anyone was interested...

The destination: Crete

For those of you who know us, you will probably be thinking: Crete, again? Well yes! Again!

And after being here for two days, we do not regret the decision at all. Not one tiny little bit. And I'll tell you exactly why not.

After arriving monday mid afternoon, tired from only having slept about two hours the night before (the plane left friggin 5 AM), we were greeted by this lovely greek lady by the name of Iris. She welcomed us after having driven small village roads up a very steep hill, and afterwards climbing an even steeper hill by foot. We arrived drained in sweat, and she seated us and welcomed us the traditional greek way, with a shot of raki. After having shown us the place, we walked back down to the car to get our bags and dreading the climb back up with all our stuff. But halfway up the climb our hosts were waiting to take the bags off our hands. What a typical gesture of the greek hospitality.

And after having spent two days at this place, you feel perfectly fine never leaving again. The great service makes you feel like a million bucks, the food is absolutely divine (and dirt cheap), the weather is great and the view even better. What more can you wish for when going for a "we-are-going-to-do-nothing-but-relax" holiday?

Well at this moment I can't think of anything. But check back later and perhaps I will have thought of something!
